Blended Learning

All of our Level 3 Access to HE Diplomas can be studied via a Blended Learning route rather than an in-college fully taught route. Blended Learning involves a large amount of independent study using resources provided by our tutors, but also includes regular, mandatory in-college and online group sessions. Unlike fully online courses, Blended Learning offers the advantage of regular contact with both tutors and peers, and some degree of lessons and seminars in addition to independent learning.

In-college sessions will always be in the evening and always on one set day of the week. As with the in-college route, a Diploma can be completed over either one year or two years through the Blended Learning route.

Blended Learning has the advantage of greater flexibility since the majority of study is done when it best suits the individual learner. As a general comparison in a typical seven- week block, the Blended Learning course requires only 6 hours of mandatory lesson time compared to 30 hours on the in-college course. There will also be mandatory in-college assessment for some units. It is important to note that the overall amount of time needed to complete the Diploma is similar to in-college study, and students need to have a very high degree of self-motivation, organisation and the ability to work mostly independently. Completing the course in one year is considered to be full-time education and, as such, it is not appropriate to attempt the course whilst in full-time work.

To be considered for a place on our Blended Learning route, you will be invited to attend a Recruitment & Information session to discuss the course in detail and ensure this route is appropriate for your circumstances.

At the end of each unit, you will complete an assignment to assess your knowledge of the unit.

To successfully achieve your Diploma, you will need a total of 60 credits.

GCSE Math and English Grade 4 or Equivalent.
