An introduction to the world of film and TV, both behind the camera and in front of it. You'll work through the movie-making process from initial idea to final film, using industry-standard kit including BlackMagic cameras and Adobe software, a designated audio suite for Foley and podcasting, a green screen room, and broadcast live streaming mixers. Finish this year and you can top up with a second year (Extended Diploma) for a full 2-year Level 3.

This is a hands-on introduction to film and TV. You’ll experience the process from initial idea, through pre-production and planning, to shooting and post-production. Along the way you’ll use BlackMagic cameras and Adobe software, a designated audio suite for Foley sounds and podcasting, a green screen room to create visual effects, and broadcast live streaming mixers to produce live content.
The course is delivered through 8 units, no exams. Units 1-3 focus on video content including short film, single-camera production and advertising, alongside narrative and audience theory. Units 4-7 develop camera techniques, storytelling, interactive media (building a website), and sound design. Unit 8 is your final major project: short film, music video, documentary, whatever you decide to take forward.
