Foundation Studies

Our Ofsted outstanding foundation studies department supports you in preparing for adulthood, giving everyone an equal opportunity to succeed.

Our Foundation Studies area offers students aged 16-24 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities the chance to develop their full potential, by teaching them skills and knowledge to progress into adulthood.

Focusing on the important things such as independent living, health and wellbeing, community participation, employment and relevant qualifications, our highly experienced staff are on board to support you throughout your studies and work with you to achieve your goals.

Our facilities are designed to support your independent study plan, so you will be able to learn new skills in a specialist environment that reflects you and your needs.

We have excellent employer links and work closely with many local businesses to enable you to gain invaluable work experience and develop your skills in supportive inclusive environments. We also facilitate a variety of internal work placements within the College, which for many is the fi rst step to building independence and employability skills. You can progress on to our supported internship program Project Search, which is run in partnership with Next Distribution.

Our tutors offer individual support throughout, focusing on developing independence and employability skills, including additional skills building units in subjects such as: first aid, forest school, mental health awareness, The Arts, Photography, Woodwork, Sports and many more.

This enables you to then progress into mainstream programmes, supported internships, employment and independent living.

If you have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) we will use this information to plan your programme. Note: You do not need an EHCP to join our programmes.
