Doncaster College Nominated for Floristry Award

Posted: 07/10/2022

On the 15th of October this year, the British Florist Industry Awards are set to take place. The annual event will see hundreds of commercial florists, floristry students and industry suppliers come together to network, enjoy a meal and celebrate!

Nine awards will be given out on the night at the Jurys Inn Hinckley Island Hotel. The floristry-based awards are Tutor of the Year, Training Provider of the Year, Grower of the Year, Service Provider of the Year, Sundries Supplier of the Year, Flower Supplier of the Year, Local Flower Wholesaler of the Year, Wedding/Event Florist of the Year and Retail Florist of the Year. Winners will be decided by a panel of judges from within the industry who will check and mark the candidates against the criteria.

Doncaster College has been honoured to be selected as one of the finalists in the Training Provider of the Year category. Our staff and students in the floristry department work extremely hard all year round both in the classroom and the onsite, open-to-the-public, shop, Flowers at the Hub. The floristry department also provides floral arrangements for college events such as graduation.

Jo Cullingworth, one of our floristry tutors here at Doncaster College, when speaking about the awards said “we are very excited that the Floristry Department is through to the finals in the Training Provider of the Year category. We work hard to provide quality teaching and a positive environment for students, and it is fantastic to be recognised for this. This is very much a team effort, so big thanks to everyone involved. Thank you to everyone that nominated and voted for us, it is very much appreciated.”

As the date of the prestigious event draws closer, the excitement in the Floristry department is starting to bubble. The evening promises to be an incredible night full of celebration and support.
