Level 1 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism (Gateway)

This course is a high quality, industry recognised course designed to provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of the travel and tourism industry and allows them to explore the various avenues of work within this industry. It will allow learners to gain transferable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.

To support your studies, and expand your knowledge and experience of the industry, you will have the opportunity to participate in a few educational study trips such as visits to overseas destinations, as well as UK destinations, theme parks and attractions. These trips are optional but greatly encouraged and students should be prepared for a financial outlay in respect of this.

To prepare you for a career in Travel and Tourism, we set high standards in personal appearance and behaviour for our students: you will be expected to adhere to a strict uniform dress code both in class and around college, be ready and prepared for lessons and conduct yourself in a professional manner.

Assessment Methods

The course is assessed in a variety of ways, including role plays, practice assessment, question and answer paper and an online exam.
