An apprenticeship is a real, paid job. You work for an employer and train with us at the same time, and come out with a nationally recognised qualification and the experience to go with it.

The standards

Nine standards, the workshop and the plant

Welding and machining, electrical installation and maintenance, fitting, and the mechatronics and maintenance routes that keep a plant running. Level 2 to get started, Level 3 for most of the trade, and a Level 4 manufacturing technician route above it.

For employers

How it actually works

Six steps, from the first conversation to somebody else marking the result. It is the same on every apprenticeship we run.

We help you write the role

Your Employer Relationship Officer checks the job genuinely covers the standard before anyone signs anything.

We help you recruit

Advertise the vacancy through us, or enrol a member of staff you already have.

3

Your apprentice gets a named tutor

A person, who visits your workplace, and who you can email directly.

Training runs around the job

Timetabled teaching plus work completed in post, on a schedule you have from day one.

A review every 8 to 10 weeks

You, your apprentice and the tutor. Half an hour. Progress, targets, and anything getting in the way.

6

Somebody else marks the result

An independent end-point assessment, by an organisation with no connection to us or to you.

You will need an employer first

An apprenticeship is a job, so an employer has to take you on before you can start. Most people looking do not have one yet, and that is completely normal. Not ready, or no vacancy that suits? A full-time course reaches the same jobs, and you can do an apprenticeship later.
