Staff and Students across the DN Colleges Group have been highlighting the work of apprentices during the annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) from 8th- 14th February 2021.
DN Colleges Group, which encompasses Doncaster College and University Centre, North Lindsey College and the UCNL, is the 5th largest provider of apprenticeships in the UK and despite the lockdown the Group were keen to celebrate the success of those currently in an apprenticeship and those that have completed.
The Group planned an awards celebration which will be in a different format this year, accommodating the current restrictions. Both Doncaster College and North Lindsey College will share apprenticeship success throughout the week across their social media platforms.
Valerie Ayris (Director of Apprenticeships, DN Colleges Group) said, “As with all events this year National Apprenticeship Week will look very different this year. We would like to thank all our apprentices and employers for their continued commitment and support over the last year and we very much look forward to having face to face meetings when it is safe to do so. Our staff have embraced this new way of working and are continuing to support apprentices with online and blended learning. Throughout National Apprenticeship Week we will be running daily training events to support the continuous professional development of our staff and in turn this will further enhance the learning experience for our apprentices.”
In support of NAW individuals, employers, training providers and communities were encouraged to get involved, to celebrate apprenticeships and how they train, retain and achieve their apprenticeships.
Peter Mucklow, Director, Apprenticeships, Education and Skills Funding Agency said: “There is no doubt that National Apprenticeship Week 2021 will be different this year in how we celebrate apprenticeship success. We are however continuing to ask employers to encourage everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help build organisations for years to come; whilst showing the clear return on investment realised when apprentices are brought into the business. Employers are helping the nation to #BuildTheFuture through apprenticeships.
“The diversity of career options and industries available now, through apprenticeships, is outstanding. We want all current apprentices from all sectors to get behind the Week and to showcase the positive impact of apprenticeships, on careers, families and communities.”
