Sally Jameson, Member of Parliament for Doncaster Central, visited Doncaster College and spoke to Business Apprenticeship students regarding how politics impacts businesses and her role as an MP.
Having been invited by Matt Windass, Service Sector Apprenticeships Assessor at Doncaster College, Ms Jameson spoke to two groups of apprentices regarding national politics, her role as a Member of Parliament, her new role as a Minister, and local issues.
The focus for Level 3 Business Administrator apprentices was how national and local politics impacts businesses.
Ms Jameson said:
“I always enjoy speaking to young people about politics. I was delighted to be able to talk to apprentices at Doncaster College and discuss how government policies impact all areas of our lives, why the National Minimum Wage is important and how conflicts in Ukraine and Iran impact prices of goods in the UK.
I also spoke about how the Government is helping young people to find employment through the Youth Jobs Guarantee, which provides financial support to employers to encourage the recruitment of young people”.
Speaking afterwards, Mr Windass said:
“Hearing Sally speak from first-hand experience of how government policies impact businesses was so insightful. The DN Colleges Group is the fifth largest Further Education provider of apprenticeships in England, with over 2,400 apprentices and working with 1,000 employers. For our apprentices, Sally’s talk will be really helpful for their studies and their wider work in industry.”
