Doncaster College is proud to announce a new partnership with Frickley Athletic FC, designed to enhance opportunities for aspiring footballers and coaches across the college.
The partnership will strengthen the college’s football programme by providing students with access to Frickley Athletic’s facilities, training environment, and matchday experience. Students will represent both Doncaster College and Frickley Athletic FC, wearing the club’s kit and competing in AOC leagues from the club’s stadium.
The collaboration was established following discussions between Doncaster College and Frickley Athletic representatives, including Chairman Phil Cooper and Community Foundation Head John Stancliffe. Shared ambitions to develop young talent and create clear progression pathways helped form the partnership.
Students aged 16–19 from across the college will benefit from a high-quality football programme, regardless of their current ability level. Talented players will have the opportunity to progress through Frickley Athletic’s academy, reserve teams, and first teams, while aspiring coaches can gain valuable work experience through community coaching programmes, youth teams, and holiday soccer camps.
The partnership will also support Frickley Athletic FC by providing talented players, enthusiastic volunteers, and stronger links with communities across Doncaster and South Elmsall.
The main aim of the partnership is to create a clear pathway for talented student footballers to progress into non-league football while gaining valuable educational and professional experience. Both organisations also hope to increase opportunities for young people in South Elmsall and the surrounding areas to access quality education alongside a strong football programme.

We are already off to a fantastic start, and we have more exciting plans in the pipeline to bring to students and prospective students both in Doncaster and from the community around Frickley too.”
With exciting developments already underway and further plans set to be announced in the future, this partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for football at Doncaster College and Frickley Athletic FC.
