Hosted by Grimsby Institute on Thursday 12 February, the Inter-College Championships brought together four college groups: Hull College, DN Colleges Group, Grimsby Institute and RNN Group, for an exciting and highly competitive final.
The event was alive with energy and friendly rivalry as approximately 83 students from DN Colleges Group took part in 27 competitions throughout the day. Hundreds of learners from across the region gathered to showcase their exceptional talents across a wide range of vocational disciplines.
Nine Gold Medals and Overall Champions
DN Colleges Group students truly impressed the judges with their creativity and professionalism, securing an outstanding 9 gold medals in the following categories:
In addition to this, DN Colleges Group was proudly awarded the overall championship trophy, taking home the crown and securing the title of Inter-College Champions 2026.
Each competition provided students with the opportunity to demonstrate industry-level skills in environments designed to reflect real working conditions. Their success highlights the strength of further education in developing work-ready talent and promoting excellence in skills training.

The medals and trophies were obviously great to see. Still, for me, it’s an experience students will not forget, getting to put their skills to the test against their peers from across Yorkshire & Humberside in an environment that emulates working standards and environments.”
Everyone at DN Colleges Group is incredibly proud of our students, not only those who brought home medals, but every learner who represented us at the Inter-College Championships 2026. It was inspiring to see students step forward with confidence and showcase the skills they have worked so hard to develop in a spirit of healthy competition.
In 2027, the championships will take place on home soil, and DN Colleges Group is excited to welcome fellow competitors while defending the title. We look forward to seeing a new cohort of students rise to the challenge and continue our proud tradition of excellence.
