What is your story?

In 2015, I moved to Doncaster from my home country, Bangladesh, for higher studies. I chose Doncaster for the industry connections they have and the wonderful staff. I was able to validate these findings after I spent two years there to complete my HND in Mechanical Engineering. I made friends who were working and completing their HNDs and was able to learn many things from them as well as I was able to share my experience from a different region. For current students, I would say to engage with the teachers and staff as much as possible and never hesitate to ask questions. They are there to support you and they are super helpful. For prospective students, Doncaster College is an amazing place to study with really good facilities and great staff, as well as being located centrally in Doncaster, which was super helpful for me.

What are you up to now?

I am currently working in a consulting firm in my home country, Bangladesh. After completing my HND and receiving a Distinction grade, I was able to apply to top universities for my top-up degree and completed my BSc from the University of Brighton in Automotive Engineering and completed a PGD in Motorsports Engineering from Oxford Brookes University. I was able to be part of the UK’s top Formula Student team, Oxford Brookes Racing, where I was able to contribute towards developing and building an electric race car for a student-led engineering design competition. For future, I am promoting STEM and practical projects at universities in my home country and sharing the learnings I gained from Doncaster College and applying the best practices.

Sum up your experience studying at Doncaster College or University Campus Doncaster.

Doncaster College played a big role in my academic life, where I was able to gain much more experience than I could ever have imagined. My first time living abroad and Doncaster College was supportive in all phases of my academic period. The staff was helpful with explaining the assessment requirements, and post-assessment support was the highlight for me when I would receive feedback on how I did on my assessments. To sum it up, I never felt like I was alone and the friendliness of UCD was my highlight.
