Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship Standard

This is a work-based learning qualification that enables learners to work as a site supervisor in the construction industry. As a site supervisor, apprentices will plan work activities and resources, co-ordinate and organise work, implement communications systems and control work progress on a construction site against agreed programs. It is advisable that apprentices already hold a Level 3 qualification in construction, but this can be from a variety of trade backgrounds.

The main duties and tasks of a Construction Site Supervisor are:

• Supervision of specialist contractors
• The control of health and safety standards on construction projects
• Recording, control and reporting of progress on a construction project
• The minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects
• Control of quality of works on a construction project
• Assisting commercial staff with the monitoring of costs on a construction project

The knowledge, skills and behaviours for this role will be developed over the duration of the apprenticeship.
Maths and English will be embedded within the apprenticeship

Learners will attend either Doncaster or North Lindsey college on a day release basis. A minimum of 6 hours per week will be spent on working towards the apprenticeship standard. Apprentices will be supported by 1:1 meetings in the workplace by their dedicated Programme Tutor. Additional learning resources and information will be made available online to ensure a fully blended learning experience.

All apprentices must undertake an independent end-point assessment which is an assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours that have been learnt throughout the apprenticeship. The purpose of the assessment is to make sure the apprentice meets the standard set by employers and are fully competent in the occupation.

It is advisable that apprentices already hold a Level 3 qualification in construction, but this can be from a variety of trade backgrounds.
