This course is QAA accredited and validated through SEG Awards. On this course you will study a range of different subject areas including Biological Science, Health Studies and Psychology.
Students on this pathway are expected to progress to careers in health service professions such as nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, ODP, occupational therapy, etc.
This course begins in JANUARY and can completed in either one year or two years.
To complete in one year you will attend college two days per week as follows: Tuesday 4pm – 8.30pm and Wednesday 9.30am – 4.30pm. You will need to do a similar amount of independent study in addition to college attendance. This is considered to be a full-time course of study.
To complete the course over two years, you would just attend the Tuesday sessions 4pm – 8.30pm. This is considered to be part-time study.
Key Information
Level 3 Access to HE Diplomas comprise 60 credits of which 45 are graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. The credits are achieved by completing a series of units. Units included in this Diploma include:

- Non-Infectious Disease
- Defence against Disease
- Reproduction
- Growth & Development
- Perspectives in Psychology
- Health Psychology
- Psychological Disorders
- Professional Practice in Health & Social Care
Assessment takes place at regular intervals throughout the course. Units take around 7 weeks to complete with assessment normally taking place at the end of the unit. A range of assessment methods is used including research tasks, structured questions, presentations and in-class tests.
Applicants are normally expected to have achieved GCSE English and Maths at grade C / 4 before starting on this course. However, we welcome all applications and take account of individual circumstances including work experience and other achievements when offering places.

The course fee is £3,384 depending on age, previous qualifications and income. Many students do not pay fees, and for those who do pay fees, Advanced Learner Loan funding is available to cover the fees.
