This qualification aims to allow you to demonstrate an understanding of, and competency in, the digital skills you need for life and work. It will enable you to engage with digital services and products in the workplace and everyday life.

Our courses are completed in class with Tutor support and can be continued at home for additional learning. We ask that you attend classes each week for 3 hours per session.
Assessment is the process of measuring a learner’s skill, knowledge, and understanding against the standards set in a qualification. This qualification is externally set, externally marked, and externally quality assured.
The qualifications are awarded at a Pass or Fail. The result for learners takes up to 10 working days to be released.
If a pass is not achieved the first time, a free resit is available.
On successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate from NCFE, the awarding body, confirming your achievement.

Your qualification usually takes around 6 months to achieve attending once a week for a 3-hour session and some home study. You have 55 GLH to achieve this qualification.
For you to gain your full certificate in Digital functional skills you need to complete the learning materials for all 5 mandatory units and pass the final exam.
The units you will cover are as follows:
- Using devices and handling information
- Creating and editing
- Communicating
- Transacting
- Being safe and responsible online
There is a single controlled assessment for this qualification at the end of your course.
Each of these assessments comprises 2 sections: section A (knowledge) and section B (skills). Controlled assessments are administered under specified assessment conditions, and last for the following durations:
Level 1
Section A (knowledge) 20 minutes
Section B (skills) 1 Hour 10 Minutes
Total time 1 Hour 30 minutes

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
Learners can progress in several ways:
- developing skills at a higher level by moving up the level of qualification from Entry Level 3 to Level 1
- progressing to employment where they can apply their digital and IT knowledge and skills.
