Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills – Online

Many people find it helpful and empowering to seek the support of counselling at some point in their lives. People in any situation could benefit from counselling, and those with the correct understanding, knowledge and skills can provide them with support to improve personal well-being.

This qualification focusses on key counselling skills to enable you to provide support wherever it is required. The course provides you with an understanding of various theoretical approaches, as well as covering the importance of a counselling relationship and helpful interaction techniques.

This is an on-line, distance learning course which is accessed via your Internet-connected computer.  You can enrol at any time, and it is flexible as you can log on and study when it suits you.  Tutor support is available by telephone and email.

The online course contains all the learning content needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course.  There are also activities to enable you to practise your skills and test your learning.

To achieve the qualification, you need to complete all 4 units, within 12 weeks.

Unit 1: Using counselling skills (K/502/6966)

Unit 2: Introduction to counselling skills theories (K/502/6630)

Unit 3: Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills (M/502/6631)

Unit 4: Counselling skills and personal development (T/502/6632)

The online course contains all the learning content needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course.  There are also activities to enable you to practise your skills and test your learning.

Course Progression Routes

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory
  • Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills

Course Career Prospects

This course does not qualify you to practice as a counsellor, but is suitable for those who wish to increase their understanding of counselling skills and techniques in order to engage in helpful interaction appropriately.

This course would be important for job roles such as:

Counsellor (£23,000 to £36,000)

Youth worker (£18,000 to £33,000)

Psychotherapist (£40,0-00 to £54,000)
