The aim of this qualification is to prepare you to become Early Years Educators, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. The qualification is suitable for people involved in vocational work, either full-time, part-time or voluntary.
Points to Note: As this is a work-based course you must have secured either voluntary work or employment within a
childcare environment working with children aged 0-5, for a minimum of 10 hours per week for the duration of the course. Please note that you must have been volunteering or working in the placement in which you are to be assessed for at least 12 weeks prior to the course commencing.
You will complete a range of units to achieve the qualification. Some of the units you will cover are:
• Child development
• Play and Learning
• Working with parents and Others in Early Years
• Meeting Children’s Physical Development, Physical Care and Health Needs
• The Early Years Foundation Stage
Assessment Methods
Assignment work, Direct Observation and Witness Testimony
Confirmed placement of 10 hours per week in a Childcare setting 12 weeks prior to enrolment.
