An operations/departmental manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same. Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring. Roles may include: Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.
The knowledge, skills and behaviours for this role will be developed over the duration of the apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship has a typical duration of 30 months training period plus additional time to complete the end point assessment.
Learners will attend either University Centre North Lindsey or University Centre Doncaster on a day release basis. A minimum of 6 hours per week will be spent on working towards the apprenticeship standard. Apprentices will be supported by 1:1 meetings in the workplace by their dedicated Programme Tutor. Additional learning resources and information will be made available online to ensure a fully blended learning experience.
All apprentices must undertake an independent endpoint assessment which is a synoptic assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours that have been learnt throughout the apprenticeship. The purpose of the assessment is to make sure the apprentice meets the standard set by employers and are fully competent in the occupation.
The entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher. Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment
