DN Colleges Group Smashes “Building Bridges” Campaign

Posted: 08/01/2026

DN Colleges Group is delighted to announce the outstanding success of its Building Bridges campaign, having not only met but significantly exceeded its ambitious target of creating 100 new apprenticeship opportunities in 100 days.

Launched earlier this year, the campaign set out to support business growth and tackle key challenges facing Yorkshire and Lincolnshire – including persistent skills gaps and the growing number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs).

Thanks to strong collaboration with employers across the region, the campaign has now generated 147 new apprenticeship opportunities and is working with 32 new companies, surpassing its original target and creating meaningful pathways into employment for young people.

Julie Bower, Director of Employer Relationships at DN Colleges Group, said:

“Exceeding our target of 100 new apprenticeship opportunities through the Building Bridges campaign is more than a milestone—it’s a clear demonstration of the return on investment apprenticeships deliver for local businesses. Employers who engage in apprenticeship programs gain access to motivated talent, reduce recruitment costs, and build a pipeline of skilled professionals tailored to their needs. This initiative isn’t just about filling roles; it’s about driving productivity, innovation, and long-term competitiveness in our regional economy.”

Bridging Skills Gaps and Supporting Young People

The success of the Building Bridges campaign comes at a critical time. With 62% of organisations reporting difficulties in finding workers with the right skills, local employers are increasingly seeking new ways to attract and develop talent. At the same time, figures from the Office for National Statistics show that around 12.5% of young people are currently not in education, employment or training, underlining the need for targeted, accessible routes into work.

Through apprenticeships, DN Colleges Group is helping to address both challenges, equipping young people with industry-relevant skills while enabling businesses to grow and fill their skill gaps.

Supporting Businesses Through Apprenticeships

By working closely with employers, DN Colleges Group offered tailored support, including guidance on funding, the creation and promotion of job adverts, and interviewing candidates to provide businesses with eager and motivated young people.

We have successfully created apprenticeship opportunities in various industries, including construction, engineering, health and social care, service industries, accountancy and more.

Emma Piper, Head of Recruitment at Hesley Group, commented on their partnership with Doncaster College, stating:

“Working with Doncaster College on apprentice recruitment has been highly efficient for Hesley Group. The process has ensured that apprentices are matched to the right opportunities, giving us the confidence that skills gaps are being addressed with capable, motivated learners. It’s been a genuine partnership with the College being on site, supporting also in our assessment centres — building confidence, bridging skills gaps, and ensuring our Apprentice Support Workers are ready to thrive in their careers.”

Looking Ahead

Following the success of the Building Bridges campaign, DN Colleges Group remains committed to strengthening employer partnerships and expanding high-quality apprenticeship opportunities that support economic growth across the region.

With 147 new apprenticeship opportunities already created, the campaign demonstrates the powerful impact of collaboration between education providers and employers in investing in local talent.
